Remedial Massage

Every patient goes through our examination procedure:

  • We take your medical history including your present problem
  • We do a continuing visual examination
  • We palpate (examine by touch) the injured/problem area – and any corresponding healthy area, e.g. an injured knee and its uninjured partner knee.
  • This will be followed by examination by movement of the injured part and the healthy corresponding part.

After the examination we will discuss with you what the results are and outline a treatment plan for you.

Our treatments, to “remediate” or restore the condition back to good health are primarily by massage and manipulative therapy but we also use other techniques as required, for example:

  • Electrotherapy (Ultrasound, T.E.N.S, Muscle Stimulation)
  • K-Taping, bandaging, supportive padding
  • Infra-red heat lamps
  • Use of ice packs and cooling agents
  • Exercises that will help your condition
  • Muscle Energy Techniques
  • Fitness advice
  • Referral on to your GP or other medical professional if your situation needs suggests this is required

Do not be confused by the many different kinds of massage. Our massage treatments are based upon the classical Swedish Massage with additional techniques which we use after a detailed examination as required for each individual patient.

GREENMOUNT REMEDIAL MASSAGE CLINIC offers massage treatments given in the classical manner; firm but relaxing then uses the remedial techniques according to the individual needs of each patient.

Treatments are underpinned by traditional massage procedures, closely linked to current theoretical knowledge and expertise.
